Update to OSHA's Small Business Assistance Web Page

Release Date:

February 14, 2008

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) encourages all businesses to establish safety and health programs and find and fix hazards to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses. To aid these businesses, OSHA offers many resources designed specifically for smaller employers that may be found on their updated “Small Business Assistance” Web Page (http://www.osha.gov/dcsp/smallbusiness/index.html).

This site provides access to the most popular materials for small businesses, from free on–site consultation to interactive computer software to technical information to easy-to-follow guides for specific OSHA standards. It also includes links to OSHA local offices and the Small Business Administration.

The update features tabs for easier navigation and access to data. The new format highlights focal points, new products, and links. The page introduces a link that provides small businesses with Spanish–language safety cards, booklets, and posters. Additionally, the updated eTool, Safety Pays, allows employers to estimate the costs of work–related injuries and illnesses and the estimated impact on a company’s bottom line. It also provides a tool for estimating the projected sales growth that would be needed to cover the costs associated with those injuries and illnesses.
